Festival Travel Plan
9 Days Punakha Drubchen Festival Tour
Experience one of Bhutan’s most distinctive cultural celebrations on this immersive nine-day journey centred around the Punakha Dromche. Held at the magnificent Punakha Dzong during the first month of the Bhutanese lunar calendar, the festival combines sacred masked dances, religious ceremonies and a dramatic historical procession.
Unlike many other Bhutanese festivals, the Punakha Dromche concludes with the Serda procession, a ceremonial re-enactment connected to Bhutan’s 17th-century defence against Tibetan forces. The festival is also dedicated to protective Buddhist deities, including Mahakala and Palden Lhamo.
Alongside the festival, explore Thimphu, Punakha, Phobjikha and Paro, with visits to ancient temples, mountain passes, traditional villages and the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
